Illness is not due to lack of medications but instead, due to insufficient dietary supplements along with poor eating habits. Vitamins that are naturally found in fruits and vegetables support a symphony of metabolic activity within the cells to maintain good health.
Metabolic activity also results in oxidative stress. One can mitigate the effects of these antioxidants within one's diet. One needs to control other stressors such as anxiety and depression. This may include deep breathing exercises, yoga, tai chi. The essential element however is that we need good nutrition. One of my favorite fruits is pomegranate. I find it juicy, has a lot of fiber with many benefits. I personally like the fruit itself as it tastes great and is fresh and the fiber it contains will help to regulate bowel function. A study published in September issue of American Journal of Cardiology has shown that daily consumption of pomegranate juice for three months decreases stress induced myocardial ischemia in a group of patients with coronary artery disease. This is because it is rich and anti-oxidants resulting in improved perfusion to the heart.
There may be other benefits such as detoxifying liver and protecting patients from breast and prostate cancer. It may also reduce PSA levels and hence, may have protective effects on the prostate.
